  • Instant Community looks at fiction, truth and the lure of fabrication. Using the simple magic of our cellphones and tablets, this immersive work blurs the real and the artificial as nature and bodies are recreated, multiplied, and superimposed on the walls and among the public. Instant Community started as a carte blanche from Montreal Danse to choreographer Peter Quanz. It developed into a communal creative process with the four performers and the artistic director of the company, resulting in a unique, non-reproducible experience, hosted by the performers Sylvain Lafortune, Bernard Martin, Brice Noeser and Peter Trosztmer. Inspired by the collective experience of the internet and how every day our world is being captured, fragmented, modified and shared through photos and videos, images are created live by the dancers with their tablets and projectors. We know others are watching too in the dark space, yet we don’t know what exactly, as we move from one fictional tableau to the next.
