  • Created in 2003 in co-production with the Musée d’art contemporain of Montréal Duos pour corps et instrument is a work which the beauty derives from the fact that all parts of the body are searching, quite spontaneously, to obliterate the distance between those who do and those who observe. Between seeing and living.

Duos pour corps et instruments is based on the notion of the encounter. First that of Danièle Desnoyers with certain dancers who have left their mark on her work: the superb Sophie Corriveau, AnneBruce Falconer and Siôned Watkins. Next, with sound designer Nancy Tobin, with whom she is pursuing her research on an acoustic material/mode and in a slightly more instinctive and playful manner, between the body and its audio and videographic extensions.

What results is a dynamic of encounters and manipulation that Nancy Tobin creates by means of a low-tech audio device, which brilliantly employs speakers as microphones - sometimes carried by the dancers - along with feed-back as a basic acoustic element, fascinating, intense and somewhat raw.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Le Carré des Lombes, Danièle Desnoyers is inviting 3 famous dancers - Karina Champoux, Clara Furey et Anne Thériault - to restaging this pivotal work that toured three continents and enhanced her reputation.
