Lucy M. May is a contemporary dance artist and writer based in Tio’tia:ke / Montréal since 2003. Attracted to the porousness of collaboration and the vastness of dancing, Lucy has developed since her twenties choreography for stage, screen, paper, and in-situ. She is currently creating performances such as Anima / Darkroom (in creation), Vivarium (2014/17) and Le Goulet (2017) that ask how geo- and bio-social environments thread their way through human movement. She deepened her research in New Brunswick, her native province, during the artist residency Esemplastic Landing (2016-17). Between 2009 and 2016, Lucy was a member of Compagnie Marie Chouinard. She is an affiliated artist of Margie Gillis’s Legacy Project. Lucy dances to wonder after what binds micro to macro, macro to micro. A graduate of LADMMI in Montréal and Rotterdamse Dancacademie, she began studying Krump in 2016.
