BALLET OUEST DE MONTRÉAL is a professional non-profit ballet company, under the artistic direction of Claude Caron.
Since 1984, Ballet Ouest's productions have attracted more than 250,000 spectators. In 2013, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its production of the classic Nutcracker ballet, Ballet Ouest launched a new adaptation signed by the artistic director, Claude Caron. In 2014, the company presented a new work by artistic director Claude Caron, entitled Couples, an exploration of couples of all shapes and varieties, captured in vignettes of various moments of life. A new jeune public production entitled Pinocchio debuted in 2015. And Ballet Ouest’s newest production called Ella - The story of Cinderella, premiered in February 2019 and is currently touring throughout Quebec.
The arrival of artistic director, Claude Caron, in 2010 has allowed Ballet Ouest to renew and redefine its position within the Montreal and Quebec dance community. The company is eager to rise to the challenge and has been building a company that is young, avant-garde, accessible, and appealing to both dancers and audiences: a company that is able to celebrate the classical language, but through accessible and attractive productions.
