Comptant sur une troupe de sept danseurs au sommet de leur art, Crystal Pite poursuit sa recherche des possibilités poétiques du mouvement sur la scène. Les danseurs sculptent au fur et à mesure l’espace, à l’intérieur d’une forme toujours sur le point de se défaire. Ils incarnent à la fois la danse et sa disparition, témoignant de façon poignante de l’inévitable dissolution de leurs capacités puis de leur corps. Nourrie par les facultés hors du commun de ses interprètes, Lost Action explore la merveilleuse mécanique de leurs corps jusqu’à en arriver au cœur de son propos: révéler l’âme qui anime cette enveloppe de chair éphémère.

Uncollected Work is an author’s expedition through the confounding and compelling terrain of the creative process. At turns brutal, delicate, disturbing or absurd, choreographer Crystal Pite renders the writing life with her own deft and inventive touch. Driven by texts from “The Writing Life” by Annie Dillard and an evocative score by composer Owen Belton, Pite defined her company Kidd Pivot through this creation. Stylistically defined by literary genres, Uncollected Work unfolds in two parts. Farther Out encompasses the philosophical poetics and high camp of science fiction: the danger and thrill of limitless possibility, the beckoning of uncharted territory. Against this potent backdrop, Pite questions the nature of inspiration. Field: Fiction is darkly historic, portraying one of the great battles in a writer’s work: to edit and destroy. With a clever dismantling of form and convention, Pite strips each scene to its quick, exposing the beautifully treacherous act of creation.
